FIFA World Cup Qualifiers: 29 men India squad released for upcoming game against Bangladesh

NEW DELHI: After a phenomenal outing against the Asian giants – Qatar, team India gears up to face Bangladesh in their next fixture of the joint qualification for the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers 2022 and 2023 Asian Cup campaign.

The list of the probable 29 players to make it to the Indian football team roster was rolled out yesterday. The selected players have been called up for a preparatory camp in Goa from 3rd October.

Speaking to The AIFF, Head Coach Stimac mentioned: “the list will be further cut for another 4 names until the end of the week.”

“This is an initial list of 29 players. We still have some uncertainties with small injury problems with few players,” he stated. “The Bangladesh game is going to be very different from the last one against Qatar. We need all the players to be fully fit, and ready for the day,” the Head Coach added.

The coach is optimistic about the VYBK being thronged by thousands of football fanatics. “I hope that YBK will be packed and our supporters in Kolkata will push our players all the way through to our first victory in qualifiers,” Stimac maintained.

The list of 29 probables stay as follows:

GOALKEEPERS: Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Amrinder Singh, Kamaljit Singh.

DEFENDERS: Pritam Kotal, Nishu Kumar, Rahul Bheke, Sandesh Jhingan, Adil Khan, Narender, Sarthak Golui, Anas Edathodika, Anwar Ali (Jr.), Mandar Rao Desai, Subhasish Bose, Jerry Lalrinzuala.

MIDFIELDERS: Udanta Singh, Nikhil Poojary, Vinit Rai, Anirudh Thapa, Abdul Sahal, Raynier Fernandes, Brandon Fernandes, Halicharan Narzary, Lallianzuala Chhangte, Ashique Kuruniyan.

FORWARDS: Sunil Chhetri, Balwant Singh, Manvir Singh, Farukh Choudhary.

India will lock horns against Bangladesh on 15th of October at the VYBK Stadium, Kolkata.
