Producing a much improved performance Central Railway SA managed to get the better of Union Bank of India by a narrow 3-2 score line in an Elite Division match of the Rustomjee-MDFA League 2019-2020 and played at the Cooperage ground, Colaba on Monday.

The match began with UBI starting out brightly; Hasan Golwalla struck the opening goal in the 7th minute to put UBI into lead. Thereafter UBI Continued their dominance in the game as Central Railway struggled to find proper footing in the game. At half time, UBI led with goal advantage but it was in second half that the game lit up as Sumesh Nair struck the equaliser for Central Railway ssix minutes into the 2nd half.

However, UBI retook the lead 6 minutes later with Valentine Pereira’s well taken free-kick from just outside the box. Central Railway once came back strongly as in the 67th minute, Krishna Naidu’s strike found the back of the net. In the final minutes of the game, Shahbaz Phatan dribbled past his marker to send in a brilliant through ball behind the defence for Ajinkya, who made no mistake in dispatching it past the keeper into the net.

The game ended with Central Railway taking full three points with 3-2 win over UBI.

Earlier, Jason Fernandes struck a fine hat-trick to power Mumbai Marines to a facile 5-0 win against Godrej & Boyce SC in a Second Division match played at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel. Sanklap Rajpange and Omkar Kalkar netted the other two goals to complete Mumbai Marines victory.

Second Div: 

Mumbai Marines (Jason Fernandes 26’, 46’, 49’, Sanklap Rajpange 48’, Omkar Kalkar 59’) 5 – 0 Godrej & Boyce SC

Mumbai, December 15: Kenkre, Air India score easy wins

Kenkre FC and Air India comfortably won their respective Elite Division matches in the Rustomjee-MDFA League 2019-2020 and played at the Cooperage ground, Colaba on Sunday.

Riding on the twin strikes from Arhaan Bhatt Kenkre FC charged to a 3-0 win against FSI Sea View SC in the second match of the day. Atharv Bhandare struck the third goal to complete Kenkre’s win.

Earlier, former champions Air India scored twice through Ashiq Mohammed and Yogesh Kadam to blank Century Rayon 2-0.

Kenkre FC (Arhaan Bhatt 2, Atharv Bhandare) 3 – 0 FSI Sea View SC

Air India (Ashiq Mohammed, Yogesh Kadam) 2 – 0 Century Rayon
