WCG Rink football: Mary Magdalene overcome St. Anthony challenge to win 4-3
St. Mary Magdalene, Vasai produced a determined fighting performance to overcome St. Anthony’s ‘B’, Vakola 4-3 in a tense and hard-fought Men’s second round match of the Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana organized 31st Inter-Parish 5-a-side Rink Football Tournament – 2018 for the Victor D’Mello Trophy and played under floodlights at the gymkhana’s tennis courts.
Leading the way for St. Mary Magdelene was striker Smith Carvalho who struck two goals and was well supported by Mark Carvalho and Ralph Sirvel, both scoring a goal apiece. For St. Anthony’s the goals came through Brendon Pires who struck two and Jonathan Pinto with one.
In another match, St. Andrew’s ‘A’, Bandra blanked Holy Cross ‘B’, Juhu 2-0. Strikers Roy Lewis and Floyd Dharmai scored one goal each to secure St. Andrew’s victory.
Results – Open Ladies: Bodyline SC 2 (Saamya Jain 1, Mehak Lobo 1) beat Orlem United SC 0.

Ronnie 7s 5 (Glen Moraes 4, Melwin Vaz 1) beat St. Joseph’s, Umerkhadi 0.
Football Dadar 2 (Dominic D’Souza 1, Martin D’Silva 1) beat Swiss Caterers 1 (A.D. Rao 1).
Men’s (2nd round): St. Andrew’s ‘A’, Bandra 2 (Roy Lewis 1, Floyd Dharmai 1) beat Holy Cross ‘B’, Juhu 0.
