WCG Rink Football: Kotkar slams six in St. Joseph’s big win
Mahesh Kotkar was in terrific scoring form and hit a six to power St. Joseph’s ‘C’, Juhu to a facile 8-1 victory against St. Anne’s, Bandra in a Men’s first round match of the Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana organized 31st Inter-Parish 5-a-side Rink Football Tournament – 2018 for the Victor D’Mello Trophy and played under floodlights at the gymkhana’s tennis courts.
Besides Kotkar’s fine efforts, Nickel D’Souza and Reynold Murzello provided good support by scoring the other two goals.
In another match, Immaculate Conception ‘B’, Borivali 4 defeated Our Lady of Rosary, Dockyard 4-2. Calvin Pereira netted a brace of goals, while Mohit Gatty and Souvardhan Shetty scored one each for the Borivali side. Rossi Dias got both the goals for the Dockyard outfit.
In the third match, Steven D’Souza scored the decisive winning goal which helped St. Blaise ‘B’, Amboli overcome Sacred Heart ‘A’, Santacruz 1-0.
Results – 1st round: Immaculate Conception ‘B’, Borivali 4 (Calvin Pereira 2, Mohit Gatty 1, Souvardhan Shetty 1) beat Our Lady of Rosary, Dockyard 2 (Rossi Dias 1).
St. Joseph’s ‘C’, Juhu 8 (Mahesh Kotkar 6, Nickel D’Souza 1, Reynold Murzello 1) beat St. Anne’s ‘B’, Bandra 1 (Vikram DeSouza 1).
St. Blaise ‘B’, Amboli 1 (Steven D’Souza 1) beat Sacred Heart ‘A’, Santacruz 0.
