The Brazilian midfielder, 24, has already arrived in Lisbon and signed a contract valid for three seasons, that is, until 2021. Having started his career in Europe with AS Roma as a 18 year old, Lucca returns to Europe after stints at Brazil, Malaysia and 3 seasons in India with FC Goa (2015) & FC Pune City (2016 & 2017).
After signing for his new side, Lucca stated, “I am very happy for the opportunity to play in a competitive league like the Portuguese and in a great team like Belenenses. I am eager to demonstrate my qualities and I hope to give many joys to the fans,” He continued “I did not even think twice about it, and when I made the first phone call, I was very interested in being a club with a big, organized structure, so I think it fits my goals.”

CF Os Belenesco’s Portuguese Coach Silas is no stranger to the quality of Jonatan Lucca having seen him play in India when Silas himself played for Indian Super League side Northeast United in the 2015 season. “Lucca is a very versatile midfielder, he can do several positions in the midfield, he is versatile and technically good, he is a player who also has capacity in physical duels because he is tall and knows how to use the body and is a good performer” stated the former Portuguese Midfielder
