Renaissance, Youth Soccer & Koli Samaj register wins

30th December 2017, Mumbai: On Saturday at MSSA – Mumbai School Sports Association Ground, a total of three MDFA Third Division matches were played. Renaissance, Youth Soccer and Koli Samaj registered narrow wins to end their year on a winning note.
Group C – Renaissance (Sylvester Chunekar 6′ & 10′) 2-1 Young Guns (Ayush Kadam 28′)
In the Group C encounter, Renaissance locked horns against a spirited Young Guns’ side which proved out to be a thrilling contest. A brace from Sylvester Chunekar proved enough for Renaissance to brush past Young Guns 2-1 at MSSA Ground.
Renaissance started brilliantly with two goals in the first ten minutes itself. Sylvester opened the scoring in the sixth minute before doubling his and Renaissance’s lead to two goals just four minutes later. Ayush Kadam cut short the deficit for Young Guns in the 28th minute but it only turned out to be a consolation goal.
Group B – Youth Soccer (Rishar Kotian 50+1′) 1-0 Victorians FC
In Group B, Youth Soccer faced Victorians FC in another thrilling contest. After some poor finishing from both the sides, the deadlock was finally broken when Rishar Kotian scored the winner in the injury-time to seal the victory for Youth Soccer.
Had Victorians converted their early chances, things would have been quite different.
Group G – United Village Welfare (Vatican Bhandari 23′) 1-2 Koli Samaj Housing Society (Nikhil Gurav 18′ & 28′)
In Group G, United Village Welfare played a strong Koli Samaj Housing Society side at MSSA Ground. A brilliant first-half display by Nikhil Gurav gave Koli Samaj all three points as they defeated United Village Welfare 2-1 to snatch a crucial win.
Nikhil Gurav opened the scoring in the 18th minute before Vatican Bhandari equalized with a fine goal in the 23rd minute. But five minute later, Nikhil struck once again for Koli Samaj as he bagged the winning goal with a fantastic finish.
