Lionel Messi may retire after the FIFA World Cup 2018

Messi retired from International Football in 2016 but returned

The FIFA World Cup 2018 will be the final world cup for many great players. Even though Lionel Messi is already 30, he could still participate in the FIFA World Cup 2022. The Barcelona Superstar has hinted he will retire from his national duty after this World Cup.

Lionel Messi retired from Argentina football team when his side lost to Chile in the Copa America final. But, after a series of pleas from fans across the globe, Messi decided to return to International Football.

However, quite surprisingly, he has not hinted he will retire from Argentina, no matter what their performance in this World Cup would be. Lionel Messi has almost all the trophies, but the FIFA World Cup has time and again eluded him.

Many across the globe strongly believe that Lionel Messi should clinch at least a FIFA World Cup if he has to be regarded as the best ever football player in Argentina, let alone in the World.

Messi and Co. fly to Russia with an aim to go one better this time and to conquer the World. Messi comes on the back of a spectacular performance for FC Barcelona, where he helped them secure a domestic double.

Lionel Messi also bagged the European Golden Shoe, beating Mo Salah, Harry Kane in the process. He will be keen to replicate it in Russia and will be eager to clinch the FIFA World Cup.
