Sunil Chhetri is just behind Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of International goals

India vs Kenya match is not yet over, but our Captain, Sunil Chhetri has equalled Lionel Messi’s 64 International goals when he bagged a brace against Kenya at the halftime.

Stephen Constantine named a strong starting XI and India, right from the kick-off, started to dictate the game. However, Kenyan too went nip and tuck with the Indian midfield.

Sunil Chhetri and of course, India, opened their account in the 8th minute of the game when Sunil Chhetri converted from a Thapa freekick to give India the much-needed lead and confidence. India grew into the game gradually, while Kenyans too consistently pressurized the Indian defense, but Sandesh Jhingan and Co. looked comfortable and solid and never gave away an inch of space for the opponents to exploit.

Chhetri doubled his tally and India’s lead in the 29th minute of the game, when he, brilliantly, controlled a through ball from the middle and slotted it past the hapless Kenyan goalkeeper. It was his 64th goal for India and has equalled Lionel Messi in the process.

Sunil Chhetri will be looking to add one more and surpass Lionel Messi in the second-half of the game as India look to trounce Kenya and clinch the much-coveted Hero Intercontinental Cup.
