KSA hold Kenkre to a 2-2 draw

Kenkre vs KSA

In a topsy-turvy encounter, Karnataka Sporting Association twice came back from goal down to snatch a late draw against Kenkre FC in their season opener.

Amay Bhatkal’s late equalizer snatched a crucial point for KSA as they drew Kenkre to a 2-2 draw after Ajay Shah had given the latter a crucial lead with fifteen minutes to go.

Playing their opening game of the season, both sides started out warily and begun settling into the rhythm as the game wore on. KSA’s attempts in gaining early inroads to Kenkre defense were well stalled by Bharat Thapa, who held the fort well for the latter. Both sides entered the break without troubling the scoreline as it remained 0-0.

However, immediately after the break, Ireno Vaz’s side showed intent in their attack and were soon rewarded when in the 51st minute, Jay Bhavnani slotted home the opener to put Kenkre in lead. The goal brought alive the game as ten minutes later, KSA equalized through their midfielder Johnson D’silva.

With fifteen minutes to go, the Navy Blues took the lead for the second time in the game as Ajay Shah’s shot found the back of the net. However, just when it looked as if Kenkre would run away with the game, KSA earned a free-kick with just minutes away from full time. Astle Pereira’s pinpoint cross was duly converted by Amey Bhatkal whose header beat Kenkre Keeper Pratik Varaskar to bring the game back on level terms.
