JMJ Sports Club edge Mother Teresa to be crowned MDFA 2nd Division champions

Elvin Fernandes 35th minute strike turned out to be the differences, as JMJ Sports Club were crowned the 2nd division champions.
With promotion to first division already confirmed, both sides faced each other in the 2nd division play-off finals for the coveted trophy.
Both sides started the season grouped together in group F, with Mother Teresa getting the better of JMJ 2-1 in that group fixture. Since the loss, JMJ went from strength to strength, scoring goals in bulks. The team finished the group stage scoring 44 goals in just 8 games which was followed by another 18 goals in 3 games of play-offs. On the other hand, unlike JMJ’s dominating performances in the tournament, Mother Teresa came into the game grinding out many hard fought results.
In the closely contested final, JMJ Sports clubs attacking line up found it hard to assert their same dominance as Mother Teresa looked set to grind out another result in their favour, however Elvin Fernandes came up with an important goal in the 35th minute to put JMJ into lead. Trailing by a goal, Mother Teresa attempted a comeback putting men forward in search of that elusive equaliser however JMJ defence stood resolute till the final whistle as the match ended at 1-0 score line.
Final: JMJ Sports Club 1 (Elvin Fernandes 35’) – 0 Mother Teresa
