Bank of India (BOI) puts four past St. Sebastian

28th March 2018, Mumbai: Bank of India (BOI) played their second match in space of three days when they took on St. Sebastian in MDFA Super Division encounter at Mumbai Football Arena (Andheri) on Wednesday afternoon. The Bankers were at their best as they registered a deserving 4-1 win over a gritty St. Sebastian side to record their fourth win of the campaign.

Bank of India (BOI) is now second in the Group C table with 12 points in 6 games, two points below group leaders Central Railway and one point above yesterday’s counterpart St. Sebastian. Apart from Central Railway, the Bankers are firm favourites to qualify for the next round.

Midfielder Dhiraj Lad opened the scoring for Bank of India (BOI) just before the half-an-hour mark. His well-timed shot proved too good for St. Sebastian’s goalkeeper. Number 10 Charles Fernandes doubled the lead in the second-half after an exquisite build-up all the way from the backline.

Even though St. Sebastian was trailing by two goals, they defended pretty well for the majority of the second-half. Things got interesting when Dexter Peters scored one from close-range to cut short the deficit for St. Sebastian. They kept pushing for the equalizing goal when at the break, Shubham Dalvi made it 3-1 with a fantastic strike in the 92nd minute.

A few moments later, Dhruv Yadav caught St. Sebastian’s goalkeeper out of his position and dinked over him with a thunderous effort to seal a 4-1 win for the Bankers.
