Udaya Sposrt Club to face Karnatak S.C in A.R Kudroli Memorial’s final

Udaya S.C's Goalkeeper Kartik Putran in action

31st December 2016: In the second semi-final of 10th Late Adv. A.R Kudroli Memorial Knockout Football Tournament 2016-17, Udaya Sports Club faced Star of Canara S.C at KSA Ground on the last day of the year. Udaya Sports Club produced a fantastic performance to sink the defending champions Star of Canara S.C 4-2 through the tiebreaker to book their place in the final which will be played in the upcoming weekend.

Both the sides started off brightly and took their time as they settled into the game. Udaya SC created numerous opportunities in the first quarter itself as they slightly shifted their tempo.

On the other end, Star of Canara also created various chances to score but a solid backline of Udaya S.C proved too strong for the defending champions.

Udaya S.C who came into the match on the back of a brilliant attacking display in their previous matches left no stones unturned but they fail to score and ultimately the winner has to decide through penalty shootout.

The first moment of joy came when Mohith Gatty scored the first goal to give Udaya Sports Club a lead. And later Clive Coutinho, Ashirvad Hegde and Jaya Moolya did the remaining work.

Meanwhile, Sheldon Rego and Anderson Andrade scored their chance for Star of Canara S.C whereas two chances went down as Udaya’s goalkeeper Kartik Putaran did the fantastic work under the bar.

With this 4-2 win, they booked their place in the final where they will play against Karnatak S.C. on the 7th of January, 2017.
