Positive and improved Mumbai FC keen to settle scores with Aizawl FC

Mumbai, March 3: Mumbai FC coach Santosh Kashyap admitted that it’s going to a tough game, but sounded confident of maintaining their last three games unbeaten record when they clash with Aizawl FC in a 12th round I-league match to be played at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium on Saturday, March 4, 2017. The match is scheduled to commence at 2.05 pm.

The Mumbai side after an unexpected slump in fortunes did exceptionally well in the last three rounds and snatched points from strong oppositions like Mohun Bagan, champs Bengaluru FC and new entrants Minerva Punjab FC, with all three games finishing in goalless draws at home.

“The match against Aizawl tomorrow is more difficult. It’s always a big challenge for the visiting team as the home side has the advantage. But like every team comes to try and win we would also play to win and I expect a tough match,” a refreshed Kashyap told media persons at the pre-match press conference.

Having gone with a win from their last nine games, the Mumbai club is determined to get the maximum from this match and also avenge their 0-1 defeat at home. “In the last meeting, we did not have any foreign players. But now with the inclusion of four foreign players, we are a much better-balanced team, a much-improved side and more positive,” stated Kashyap.

The Mumbai coach also pointed out that scoring is a problem as they have failed to score in the last three games. “Scoring is one big concern. We have worked on our weaknesses and are better prepared for this game,” Kashyap mentioned.

Skipper Densil Theobald an attacking midfielder from Trinidad and Tobago will have to bring out his best to try and motivate his teammates, especially the strikers Anderson da Silva, Alex Willian and Pratesh Shirodkar to get them the much-needed goals.

The defence marshalled by stopper backs Mehrajuddin Wadoo and Afghan international Djelaludin Sharityar have combined nicely with the wing backs Chinta Rao and Reagan Singh and have shown quite a good understanding with goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani under the bar. They seem capable of keeping the speedy Aizawl attackers under control and ensure that the Mumbai citadel stays intact.

On the other hand, Aizawl who would be playing their fifth successive match at home would like to maintain their four-game winning momentum, which would secure their second position in the table.

A win would ensure that the Mumbai side, which is currently in second last place with nine points, could move away from the drop zone.
