New plans for MDFA Women’s League 2017

Mumbai: The Mumbai District Football Association in their endeavour to encourage and promote football among the fairer sex has decided to restructure and introduce some new features to the women’s competitions. The MDFA has chalked out new initiatives for the conducted of the Women’s League 2017, to be sponsored Mumbai City FC and which is scheduled to commence from the first week of April 2017.

It has been decided to have 16 teams (divided into 2 groups of 8 teams each) in the First Division and will be the regular 11-a-side matches. For this year MDFA will introduce a Second Division (7-a-side format) and will consist of the 16 teams from the First Division affiliated clubs.

For new clubs, the MDFA will conduct a development programme that will consist of 5-a-side games and the competition will be restricted to first 16 teams.

The entry fees for the First and Second Division teams is Rs 10,000 plus the ‘players’ registration fees. For the Development Programme, the fee is Rs 5,000 per team and ‘players’ registration fees.

Matches are scheduled to be played at the Karnatak SA Ground, Lions Club Ground, Santacruz.

All clubs/teams interested in participating in the above leagues are requested to submit their entries along with the fees (by cheque and demand draft only) latest by March 23, 2017. The entry forms duly completed and the fees will be accepted at the MDFA Office, St. Xavier’s ground, Parel during regular working hours.
