Pizan Kodia’s lone goal guides Godrej & Boyce to victory
Godrej & Boyce faced off YMCA in the Group B match of MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) Second Division at St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel on Tuesday evening.
Pizan Kodia’s first-half strike in the 12th minute proved to be decisive as it helped Godrej & Boyce to register a narrow victory over YMCA to strengthen their position in Group B.
Godrej & Boyce finished as 3rd Division runner-up last season after a brilliant season. They have already made their intentions clear with their performance and will surely look forward to gain, back to back promotion.
YMCA gave a tough fight but couldn’t match up Godrej’s intensity. Adnan Ansari, Umair Ansari, and Imran Ansari had a fine game for YMCA.
After a bright start, the breakthrough came for Godrej & Boyce in the 12th minute when Pizan brilliantly lobbed over YMCA’s goalkeeper Aakif Ansari to open the scoring.
The goal gave Godrej a morale boost as they sat back and defended resiliently to avoid concede any goals.
Taufiq Manham, Riyan Ukaiye, Sunil Ghogale had a fantastic game for Godrej. In the end, Godrej’s backline was almost impossible to break down as they defended their solitary one goal lead to win the match.
