Somaiya’s six star performance thumps Alphonso

Somaiya Vidyavihar met Alphonso Academy in the Group E match of MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) First Division at St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel on Tuesday evening.

In what proved to be a one side match, Somaiya scored six past Alphonso to register a thumping 6-0 victory. Five of the six goals came in the first-half itself.

Somaiya Vidyavihar who has been brilliant over the years again proved why they are one of the contenders to gain promotion in the Super Division.

It took Somaiya Vidyavihar just seven minutes to open the scoring. Tanuj Khatu put Somaiya in front with a brilliant strike straight into the bottom corner.

Seven minutes later, Sanket Mayekar made it 2-0 and soon increased Somaiya’s lead to three goals with a quickfire brace. With 21 minutes passed, Somaiya had already took a swift 3-0 lead.

With twenty minutes left for the second-half, Prashant Rawat’s strike in the 23rd minute and Ryan D’Souza’s fantastic goal in the 37th minute added two more goals as Somaiya Vidyavihar went into the break with a massive five goals lead.

The second-half saw Somaiya calmly controlling the match by keeping the majority of the ball possession.

The final and sixth goal came in the 73rd minute when Prashant doubled his tally to complete a memorable 6-0 victory over Alphonso Academy.
