FootFun Football Academy’s 5-A-Side Tournament receives tremendous response

Footfun Football Academy’s 5-A-Side tournament was held on the Western Railway ground, Mahalaxmi on the 3^rd April i.e the Sunday. Mr Savio Rodrigues , the head coach of FFA the was backbone of this wonderful grassroot tournament which had only two age groups, the U-8 and the U-10. The whole event was for a single day and had 22 teams participating. To grace this wonderful tournament we had with us film actor and model Mr Shahwar Ali and a highly reputed personality Mr Shoaib Ahmed .Over the 50 games played on the day we managed to potray some of the most important games and their results.

U-8 (Important matches)

Numero Uno beat Ashoka Stars 7-0 . Mumbai United thumped Ashoka Stars by 6-0. DY Stunners lost 5-1 against Numero Uno .Impressario beat A.G.Strikers 6-0.

U-10 (Important matches)

Terrific Titans strolled past SMUFC in a 5-0 win. Soccer Maniacs beat A.G.Titans 6-1. Soccer Manics eged the Scottish strikers 5-3 in a thrilling end to end game. SMUFC beat A.G.Titans 4-0. Scottish Strikers beat A.G.Titans 6-0. OIS beat A.G.Titans 8-0.

After a long session of group matches, 4 teams from the U-8 and U-10 qualified for the semifinals. The winning team from the U-8 category were team Impressario while AB Champs had to settle for the runners-up trophy. In the U-10 category Terrific Titans claimed the winning trophy while OIS were the runners-up. The best part of the prize distribution ceremony was that every kid in the runners up and the winning team was given a small trophy along with the coaches.

There were a lot of individual awards presented to best player in the semifinal and the final.

U-8 category awards

• Best player in semifinal 1- Rajveer Chauhan of Numero Uno
• Best player in semifinal 2- Mehlam Dilawer of Mumbai United
• Best player in final (Winning team)- Yahoman Kumar of Impressario
• Best player in final (runners-up team)- Aryan of AB Champs
• Best player of the tournament- Abdeali Tajer of Impressario

U-10 category awards

• Best player in semifinal 1- Tanish Udeshi of Super 7
• Best player in semifinal 2- Amartya of Kenkre
• Best player in final (winning team) – Sumeet Kamat of Terrific Titans
• Best player in final (runners-up team)- Tomotaka of OIS
• Best player of the tounament- Hanzala Kapadi of Terrific Titans

The tournament turned out to be a huge success as there were close to 100 goals scored in the entire day. A huge round of applause for all the referees who were present for the tournament. A big thank you to all the parents for supporting their kids to participate in this grassroot level tournament. Last but not the least, a huge round of applause for Mr Savio Rodrigues who hosted this tournament without the help of sponsors. His passion and love for the game should be credited.
