Dadar XI ‘A’ overcomes Franco S.C in 1st Division clash
31st November 2016, St Xavier’s Ground: In the Group B of MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) 1st Division clash at St Xavier’s Ground, Parel, Dadar XI ‘A’ romped to a comprehensive 3-1 victory against a shaky Franco S.C side on Monday evening.
A goal each from Duarte D’Souza, Pranit Kadam, and Mohan Bhandari proved enough for the boys from Dadar to register a vital win which has also put them in a commendable position in Group B. Their counterpart Franco S.C struggled for the majority of the match and couldn’t live up to their high expectations before heading towards the game.
It took Dadar XI ‘A’ just three minutes to open the scoring when Duarte D’Souza brilliantly finished his effort in style past Franco S.C’s goalkeeper Shreyas Pillai to start the match on the front-foot.
Dadar XI seemed like an organized unit for the whole game. Their back-line was composed and dealt with Franco’s attacking prowess with ease.
Just before half an hour mark, Pranit Kadam made it 2-0 after a close range finish to add further misery for Franco SC. With this goal, Dadar XI went into the break with two goals advantage.
Franco S.C made a great start in the second-half and soon cut short the deficit by just a goal when Prashant Rane scored against the run of play in the 49th minute. But Dadar XI restored their two goals lead just four minutes later when Mohan Bhandari made it 3-1.
Dadar XI held on to their two goals lead and emerged as winners against a shaky side of Franco S.C who could have done a lot better than they displayed in this match. Franco’s defensive woes must be sorted out quickly if they have to mount serious challenge for the Division 1st title.
