Swami Vivekanand Borivali sneak past Lakshdham HS

Swami Vivekanand High School, Borivali saw off Lakshdham High School from Goregaon 1-0 in the U-16 4th Division Knock-out Cup of the Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) on Tuesday, 1st September 2015 at the MSSA Ground in Mumbai.

Swami Vivekanand dished out a dominant display but had little to show for their dominance as they eventually had to rely on a solitary strike from Shubham Sawant to edge past Lakshdham HS.

Swami Vivekanand were in control of the game right from the start and had to wait just six minutes to grab the initiative through Shubham Sawant whose neat strike flew past the goalkeeper to give Swami Vivekanand an early lead.

Swami Vivekanand who were playing in red strips, had plenty of chances to double their tally before the break, but their forwards’ lack of composure in front of goal meant that Swami Vivekanand went into half time with a slender 1-0 lead.

The second half was no different from the first half as Swami Vivekanand continued to be in the ascendancy. They should have been home and dry within the first five minutes of the second half but the Lakshdham goalkeeper pulled off a couple of brilliant saves to keep his side in contention.

But there was little threat from Lakshdham High School as they succumbed to a narrow defeat to bow out of the competition.

Swami Vivekanand were full value for their win despite failing to score more goals, but the men in red had the game under their control from minute one and didn’t give Lakshdham a sniff despite having just a slender lead.
