Catholic Gymkhana thump Youth Soccer Academy to continue dream run

Catholic Gymkhana continued their rich vein of form as they brushed aside Youth Soccer Academy 3-0 in the 2nd Division of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) at the St. Xavier’s Ground in Parel on Tuesday, 1st September 2015, thanks to a brilliant hat-trick from Glakson Mascerenhas.

Catholic Gymkhana who were fresh from the five goal win in their previous outing came into this game brimming with confidence and that was evident right from kick-off as they took the game to YSA side.

It took Catholic Gymkhana time to breach the resilient YSA defence, which eventually cracked in the 14th minute when Glakson Mascerenhas put Catholic Gymkhana into the lead.

The goal gave Catholic Gymkhana an added impetus in their game and Glakson Mascerenhas popped up again five minutes later when he brilliantly sent a looping header into the far corner from a cross from the left flank.

YSA were trying to build up some attacks but Catholic Gymkhana were proving to be too strong a side for them and were under the cosh due to consistent pressure from Catholic Gymkhana.

The brilliant Glakson Mascerenhas completed his hat-trick in the 29th minute with a truly wonderful goal as he out muscled the YSA center back and fire a half volley into the back of the net giving the YSA goalkeeper no chance whatsoever. Mascerenhas was at his sizzling best on the day and completely stole the lime light in the first hal which was totally dominated by Catholic Gymkhana as they went into the break three goals to the good.

Catholic Gymkhana retained their superiority in the second half too but failed to convert the chances that came their way. YSA showed patches of improvement but Catholic Gymkhana never allowed them to get any kind of foothold in the game.

Catholic Gymkhana continued their dream run in this year’s competition as they notched up yet another commanding display. But the day belonged to hat-trick hero Glakson Mascerenhas who brought the St. Xavier’s crowd to a stand still due to three breath taking goals.
