Stylish Mumbai FC rout Central Railways

Mumbai FC secured a second straight win as they thumped Central Railways 5-0 in the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) Elite Division game at Cooperage on Saturday, 31st October.

Mumbai FC started with new signing Eric Brown who was signed from United Sports Club along with M.Metei and Taisuke Matsugae who also started the game.

Mumbai FC got a while to get going against a gritty Central Railways side but eventually broke their resistance in the 18th minute when a Steven Dias cross from the right was headed home by new signing Sandesh Gadkari whose glancing header flew into the net.

The goal gave Mumbai FC the impetus as they started dictating the play. Steven Dias had a great chance to fire Mumbai FC’s second goal after he was played through on goal by Taisuke Matsugae, but Dias could only find the side netting despite having plenty of time to size his effort.

Sandesh Gadkari who was having a fine afternoon almost got his second goal of the game when his effort from a tight angle came off the upright.

Mumbai FC’s pressure eventually told as M.Metei tapped in from close range after a corner which was played short to Steven Dias was put into a dangerous area by the former Indian International in the 29th minute.

Mumbai FC were on the wrong end of poor refereeing decisions when they were twice denied a third goal due the linesman wrongly flagging Mumbai FC players offside.

However it didn’t deter them from adding a third goal as Metei set up Taisuke who drilled home his effort to put Mumbai FC 3-0 up at half time.

Mumbai FC turned on the style in the second half but were unfortunate not to add to their tally early on in the second half. New signing Eric Brown struck the crossbar with a venomous effort in the 48th minute before several crisp moves culminated into nothing for Mumbai FC at the start of the season.

However in the 69th minute, Eritc Brown truly announced his arrival at Mumbai FC with a cracking left footed drive which rocketed into the top corner. It was a stunning finish from the debutant which put Mumbai FC 4-0 up in the contest.

There was to be yet another goal for Mumbai FC as they scored five goal for the second time running. Substitute Karan Sawhney tapped home a delightful cross from M. Metei from six yards out to get his second goal in as many games for the club as Mumbai FC ran out 5-0 winners against Central Railways yet again.
