Steadfast FC breezes past D.K Pharma

An organized Steadfast FC completed a 3-0 win over D.K Pharma in 1st division of MDFA at St Xaviers Ground, held at Parel. Krish Sharma’s early strike and two late goals from Arveen Thakur and Alok Thakkar was enough to give them vital points.

As their name suggest, Steadfast FC needed only a minute to open the scoring when Krish Sharma poked his effort from a cross which gave D.K Pharma a huge blow right from the start. This wasn’t a start D.K Pharma’s players were looking for but with more than an hour play left the match was still open.

Robin Baptista and Alok Thakkar both created numerous chances for Steadfast FC but soon after conceding the first goal, D.K Pharma’s defenders looked more aware and sharp for rest of the first half. Number of long balls were cleared or intercepted by D.K Pharma which made the match more interesting.

In the second half, D.K Pharma gave their best to find the equalizer when they started to attack right from the start of second half. The boys in blue started to create havoc for Steadfast FC’s defenders but a properly organized defence kept D.K Pharma at bay.

D.K Pharma soon became desperate to score which ended up costing them the match, a superb counter attack was followed from Steadfast FC where Arveen Thakur lobbed over D.K Pharma’s goalkeeper Rakesh Kumar to increase their lead to 2-0 with only seventeen minutes to go.

Five minutes later, Steadfast FC were awarded a free kick from a dangerous position. Key player, Alok Thakkar curled his effort over the D.K Pharma’s wall which managed to beat Rakesh Pillai comfortably to add another goal in Steadfast FC’s account. The free kick was nothing short of perfection, it seemed like a training ground goal.

D.K Pharma tried their best to find the consolation goal but it wasn’t their day in the end, Steadfast FC sealed the match with a 3-0 win.
