Sea Siders trounce Mavirick Mazgaon

Sea Siders defeated Mavirick Mazgaon by 2-0 in the 3rd division match of M.D.F.A. (Mumbai District Football Association) at St Xavier’s ground, Parel on 8th May 2015

Sea siders had marked their dominance in the first half itself.

Mavirick Mazgaon missed many chances in both the halves. Mavirick Mazgaon’s Rahul Pandit and Razmi Thakur had an important part in creating attempts to score. As the game progressed his performance faded.

Even though Sea Siders were dominating it was Mavirick Mazgaon who had the maximum chances to score.

Mavirick Mazgaon’s failure to shot from rebounded ball from the goalkeeper meant they missed their chance to score in the 5th minute. It shot could have put them into the lead.

Mavirick Mazgaon’s Rahul Pandit’s efforts were wasted in 14th minute as Razmi Thakur failed to receive the ball and the ball went outside the field. Rahul Pandit skipped many players and ran towards the goal and gave a pass to Razmi Thakur from 6 yards. Razmi Thakur failed to reach on time and missed an important chance to score.

In 18th minute Mavirick Mazgaon’s Razmi Thakur’s efforts were not materialized as he was offside. He played a good move as he aptly passed his ball between two players and again came forward to receive but he was adjudged offside by the linesman.

Sea Sider’s Mihir Pawar opened the scoring in brilliant fashion when he found space at the edge of the area and curled it into the right corner. He scored the first goal in the 21st minute.

Sea Sider’s Hemant Jadhav made it 2-0 in the 23rd minute after he got a pass from cente back player. Sea Siders were sailing along nicely with a two goal lead.

The second half of the game was full of controversy as Mavirick Mazgaon were very much unhappy with referee’s decision and they argued with him at regular intervals.

Mavirick Mazgaon’s efforts did not make up for their loss as they failed to score.

Mavirick Mazgaon’s foul in 33rd minute lead to a penalty for Sea Siders. Mavirick Mazgaon were under the impression that it was not a correct decision but the penalty kick was given to Sea Siders

Sea Sider’s Akshay Khetle took the penalty kick but he failed to convert as the goalkeeper dived in order to make a save.

After this penalty Mavirick Mazgaon’s players became quite aggressive and started arguing with the referee.

In 40th minute Sea Sider’s Akshay Khetle squeezed ball between two players and shot on target but his weak effort was caught by goalkeeper.

Few minutes later Sea Sider’s Akshay Khetle ran along with the ball and controlled and made efforts to shoot on target but Tufael Klaeskar crossed him and snatched the ball from him.

With the full time whistle the game ended and the final result was a 2-0 triumph for Sea Siders as Mavirick Mazgaon disappointed with their results and more precisely the referee’s decisions
