Prashant Singh’s brace helps Rhema S.F ‘B’ down Naval Dockyard in a goalfest

The only MDFA 1st division match played on Wednesday, 11th September 2015, ended in a eight goal thriller where Rhema S.F ‘B’ defeated Naval Dockyard 5-3 at St Xaviers ground in Parel.

Prashant Singh’s brace and a goal a piece from Shanawaz Warunkar, Ajay Thakur and Melroy Fonsela helped Rhema S.F ‘B’ to breeze past Naval Dockyard.

Rhema S.F ‘B’, the boys in yellow kept dominating right from the start with their first chance itself turned into a goal where Prashant Singh’s effort from range found the back of the net, making it 1-0 inside seven minutes.

The next goal came just after five minutes when a series of pass were fluidly exchanged between Prashant Singh, Shanawaz Warunkar and Melroy Fonsela, who exploited the back four of Naval Dockyard with Shanawaz giving the final touch in the end to make the score 2-0 for the boys in yellow.

Six minutes from half time, Rhema S.F ‘B’ made things worse for Naval Dockyard when Prashant Singh scored a fantastic goal from distance which found Naval Dockyard’s goalkeeper, Murmu helpless in front of goal. The defenders kept ball watching which gave Prashant enough time and space to make his final move.

With two minutes added in the first half stoppage time, Naval Dockyard finally managed to pull one goal back when Dhiraj Jhatiala scored a thunderous half volley from twenty five yards which gave them a slight hope to turn this match around.

The second half was much better than the first, both the teams came out from dugout in search of goals. Rhema S.F ‘B’ was keen on extending their score to finish the things off, whereas Naval Dockyard had hopes to make a sensational comeback.

Midway into the second half, Rhema’s Ajay Thakur tapped in his effort to put the score beyond Naval Dockyard’s reach as he calmly beat the goalkeeper.

Things started to get from bad to worst for Naval Dockyard when their goalkeeper, Murmu made a huge error while handling the ball as he misjudged it which Rhema S.F’s’ Melroy Fonsela took advantage of and scored their fifth goal of the match.

Though two late goals from K. Ramesh in the closing minutes for Naval Dockyard made the score look just below acceptable after some terrible performance from the boys in blue.
