Penalty kick in the second half gives R.C.F Colony Boys a1-0 win

There was a tough fight between R.C.F Colony Boys and Christ Church F.C which R.C.F won by 1-0 in the 3rd division match of MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) at St Xavier’s ground, Parel on 28th April 2015.

From the kickoff itself R.C.F Colony Boys dominated the game.

R.C.F Colony Boy’s Keshav Sharma missed a chance to score in the 3rd minute. He received a pass from Apurva Mishra just outside the penalty box. His shot went few feet over the cross bar.

The pace of the game improved as the game became more exciting. R.C.F built a good attacks but they failed to score as their shots did not reach the target.

R.C.F Colony Boys’ Pratik Dabak in 15th minute snatched the ball on the left wing and ran skipping many players and shot in the direction of the goal but it went wide of the goal.

In the 22nd minute Christ Church F.C’s striker received a pass from left wing. He controlled the ball and shot, but it was directed over the cross bar. Christ Church F.C got few chances as compared to R.C.F Colony Boys.

Neither team was able to score after the spectacular first half which was level at 0-0.

R.C.F Colony Boys gained momentum in the second half and began to get many a chances to attack and take the lead in the game.

Minute after the first half R.C.F Colony Boys’ Apurva Mishra fired a fierce shot on the target but goalkeeper dived to his left to make a save.

Christ Church F.C’s Yusuf Ansari made a foul inside the penalty box and R.C.F were granted a penalty kick. Keshav Sharma took the penalty kick and shot in the right corner. Their efforts materialized in a goal in the 37th minute because of Keshav Sharma efforts and Yusuf’s mistake.

In the 40th minute  Christ Church F.C’s Shubham Patil smashed a shot from close range which went over the cross bar. His goal could have helped Christ Church F.C to equalize their score.

As the game progressed both the teams were under pressure and made attempts to score.

In the last minute Christ Church F.C missed an important chance as R.C.F Colony Boys’ Sumit Chavan blocked Ancel Andrew’s shot from two yards.

With the full time whistle the game ended with R.C.F Colony Boys triumphing by a 1-0 margin. R.C.F Colony Boys’ Keshav Sharma showed great composure while disposing off the penalty kick.
