Konaark Realtors register first win after shootout success against Hiraai Suns

In a fairly even contest, Konnark Realtors defeated Hiraai Suns 3-2 in penalty shootout at Back Garden (Colaba), Mumbai in Colaba Super League. Both the teams cancelled out each other at every stage of the match which led to penalties, where Konnark Realtors goalkeeper Harish Goel proved to be hero for men in black. The game was deadlocked at 1-1 before the game wasdecided from the spot.
Hiraai Suns were awarded a penalty early in the game as Konnark Realtors captain Bhagwan Patil handled the ball from inside the box, Valentine Pereira made no mistake and send the keeper the wrong way and made the scoreline 1-0 to Hiraai Suns. It was a great start like they hoped for.
Seven minutes later, Konnark Realtors were awarded a free kick in dangerous position, striker Hasan Rizwi stepped up to take it. His shot struck the wall and landed back in his path where he made a low drive shot which went past the Hiraai Suns goalkeeper, making the score even.
A series of attempts from both the clubs was wasted as none of the clubs were able to beat the goalkeeper. Hiraai Sun’s Prakash Khatti shot went just wide when he fancied his shot from distance.
Hiraai Suns kept on missing glorious chances as even Sudarshan Kamat missed a clear header which he should have scored easily. The first half, hence, ended 1-1.
Both the clubs weren’t discipline as expected, Hiraai Sun’s Sanjay Rathore and Saif Shaikh both were booked early in the second half with Konnark Realtors Mrunal Tandel also getting booked, though none of the players in this match got sent off. A numerous free kicks were cleared by both the club’s defenders, who kept the backline compact and composed for most of the second half. The match ended 1-1 which means only a penalty shootout can separate both the clubs.
Now into the most exciting part of the match, both the goalkeepers were ready to take the pressure, a chance to become hero for their respective clubs. First, Hiraai Sun’s Sudarshan Kamat stepped up to take the penalty and easily scores from the spot to make it 1-0 for Hiraai Suns.
Next up was Konnark Realtors Mrunal Tandel who blasted down the right side to make the score even in penalty shootouts. The pressure was building around both the sets of players, the second penalty for Hiraai Suns was taken by Aftab Khan who managed to beat the goalkeeper Harish Goel comfortably to make the score 2-1 for Hiraai’s Suns.
Aditya Contrullu of Konnark Realtors calmly scored past Kundan Dhanu to make the score equal, yet again.
Valentine Pereira, who was outstanding for throughout the match was next for Hiraai Suns, but as fate was written, Valentine’s shot was superbly saved by Konnark Realtors goalkeeper Harish Goel to give Konnark Realtors a big edge as the next penalty can decide the match. Konnark Realtor’s striker Hasaz Rizwi, who managed to score against Kundan Dhanu in normal time had the chance to win it for the men in blacks, the number 9 with his right foot managed to send the keeper in wrong way and wins it for Konnark Realtors with a score of 3-2 in penalty shootout.
