Dena Bank beat RCF to register maiden win

Dena Bank finally got a victory when they met Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF) in MDFA Elite Division at Cooperage Stadium. Defender Saad Ansari scored the only goal of the match when he converted a penalty five minutes from half time.

After handful of poor results, Dena Bank had their sight very clear when they faced RCF, early morning at Cooperage. Right from the kick off the man in yellows looked sharp and fragile than their mighty opponents.

The first chance for Dena Bank came midway into the first half when striker Shoeb Vindani was set all clear on goal with only goalkeeper to beat, but his effort went just wide, making all their hard work go in vain.

The chances kept coming for Dena Bank but they weren’t clinical in front of goal which has been their main issue this season.

Minutes left in the first half when referee Luis Fernandes spotted a hand ball from RCF’s attacker Kevin Patrick inside the box and awarded Dena Bank a chance to open their scoring when he awarded them a spot kick.

Defender Saad Ansari stepped up to take the preceedings, he comfortably sends the goalkeeper in wrong way and opens the scoring for Dena Bank.

Dena Bank’s forward Shoeb Vandani had an awful match when he missed once again when his teammate Noel Rodrigues accelerated his way through couple of defenders from left flank and rolled the ball towards Shoeb, who blasted his effort over the bar.

With 15 minutes to go, RCF started to dominate the match where they were eagerly looking to make things even but the boys in blue were clearly not having their day when they missed couple of good chances in the final third.

A long range effort from RCF’s Sandeep Upadhyay just sailed besides the left post which summed up their whole match as they failed to convert any chances in front of the goal.

In the end, it was Dena Bank who got all three points. It would’ve been a rampage had they converted their chances in first half.
