Brainy World edge Golden Tigers; Kalakaar Indians thrash Hina Royals

Kalakaar Indians surged back into contention with a comfortable 3-0 win over Hina Royals in the opening game of the Colaba Super League on Sunday, 10th May 2015 at the Back Garden’s Ground in Colaba.
After a cagey opening to the game, the game burst into life in the 16th minute when David D’Souza broke the deadlock to put Kalakaar Indians in front.
The goal sparked the game but despite numerous attempts from both sides, the teams went into the break with Kalakaar Indians holding the slender lead given to them by David D’Souza midway through the first half.
Hina Royals lifted their game in the second half and put a lot of pressure on Kalaakar Indians early on in the second half, but the Indians weathered the storm and dealt the Royals a killer blow in the 45th minute when Dhiraj Mestry doubled Kalakaar Indians’ lead with a fine finish.
Just as the result looked settled, Kalakaar Indians’ Chetan Naik’s saw red to hand Hina Royals a lifeline.
But it was Kalakaar Indians who went on to add a third goal in the 59th minute through Anil Pawar who was outstanding throughout the game, being full value for his goal and also the man of the match award.
Kalakaar Indians jumped to third place in the standings after a fairly comfortable win against Hina Royals who stayed fifth.
In the final game of the day, Brainy World edged an ill-tempered clash against Golden Tigers 2-1 with all three goals coming in the final quarter of the game.
Brainy World took the lead in the second half thanks to a slightly controversial looking penalty kick. But Golden Tigers were level within minutes after, they were awarded a penalty after their attacker was tripped inside the box. Golden Tigers made no mistake in dispatching the penalty kick.
But Bariny World grabbed all three points as they responded and netted a winner to remain in second place with ten points from four games.
