Bonnie D’Souza’s solitary goal leads Xavier’s Boys into the Semis

Xavier’s Boys are through to Semifinals as they defeated Jupiter SC 1-0 in the First Quarter final of the 3rd Division MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) played at Xavier’s Ground Parel on 28th May, 2015.

Xavier’s Boys were without their regular Goalkeeper and the team played defensive from the very start. This was an invitation for Jupiter SC and they started attacking and were close to scoring in the 15th minute but Yamik Molkar couldn’t connect properly and it was an easy save.

By the end of first half, Jupiter S.C. had most of the ball possesion but failed to score as Xavier’s Boys defenders were quick to clear the ball and eased some pressure out of the interim Goalkeeper.

2 minutes into the second half and Bonnie D’souza seized the opportunity when Jupiter keeper, Aditya Gavale was slightly out of box and the ball went away from Aditya’s reach for a Goal !

Jupiter S.C. only came close to equalize in the 44th minute when Kunal Sonawane dribbled his way towards goal but Yesu Chettiar intercepted before he could aim a shot.

As the final whistle blew, the unbeaten Jupiter SC lost out in the Quarterfinals to Xavier’s Boys 1-0, with Bonnie D’souza leading his side into Semifinals.
