Clinical Kenkre FC prove too strong for KSA

Kenkre eased to fairly comfortable 3-0 win over Karnataka Sporting Association (KSA) in the Elite Division of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) at Cooperage in the first ever MDFA game played under floodlights after the start of the was delayed due to an IFS training session at the ground before kick off on Thursday, 28th May 2015.
Kenkre were back on the football pitch merely twenty six hours after a tight 1-1 affair with the Indian Navy, but Joshua Lewis’s men who were playing in their changed strip of yellow, showed no signs of fatigue as the went into the lead within two minutes when Manash Sarkar headed them into the lead from a corner.
It was a poor piece of defending from KSA who allowed the Kenkre scorer a free header from six yards out.
But despite the early setback, KSA did well to keep their morale high and should have equalised in the 7th minute when Tarique Ansari’s cushioned header was headed over by a fellow team mate from six yards out.
The game had a good flow to it with both teams going all out to score the next goal in the game. KSA missed a great opportunity in the 33rd minute when Arihi Uchela did brilliantly after being played in to set Tarique Ansari who blazed his shot wide.
Kenkre punished KSA for failing to take their chances in the 44th minute when Ivorian striker Yao Bernard latched onto a long ball to quickly swivel and fire a shot past Kishen Sulegai to double Kenkre’s lead.
The second blow was a killer blow for KSA as they went into the break finding themselves 2-0 down, in a game where they could have easily led.
KSA were sharp at the start of the second half and a crisp passing move saw Valentine Pereira free in space in front of the goal only to see his lobbed effort go over the crossbar.
Kenkre once again punished KSA for failing to be clinical in their final third when Manash Sarkar added a third for Kenkre in the 58th minute with a sweet left foot strike to put the result beyond any doubts.
KSA continued to show belief but failed to seize the moments which came their way and were unlucky not to register themselves on the scoresheet when Roger Sam’s effort came off the crossbar in the 88th minute.
The win stretched Kenkre’s unbeaten run to five games in the Elite Division as they look set to achieve their goal of a top six finish in the league.
