I-League 2 enters final stretch with fate of 4 clubs on the line

I-League 2 enters final stretch as faith of 4 clubs on the line

As Matchday-10 concluded, SC Bengaluru leads the pack with a comfortable 5-point margin, closely pursued by Bengaluru United and former I-League champions Dempo SC.

The race for promotion remains heated, with Sporting Goa and Sudeva Delhi also in contention. However, lurking at the bottom, Kenkre FC, MH Oranje FC, and United SC find themselves embroiled in a tense battle to avoid relegation. With each team having completed 10 matches and only 4 remaining, the competition intensifies, as promotion to the I-League and the threat of relegation loom large. These final matches will be pivotal, potentially rewriting the destiny of several clubs. SC Bengaluru eyes a remarkable promotion in just their second season, adding a historic chapter to their club’s journey.

League Table as of MatchDay 10

The competition in I-League 2 is heating up as we enter the final stretch of the season. As of Match Day 10, five teams are in strong contention for promotion to the I-League: SC Bengaluru, Bengaluru United, Dempo SC, Sporting Goa, and Sudeva Delhi.

SC Bengaluru currently leads the pack and is a strong contender for the title. Both Bengaluru teams have capitalized on their home advantage, boasting impressive records at their respective stadiums. SC Bengaluru boasts a perfect home fixture (7 wins out of 7 Games), while Bengaluru United has showcased resilience except for a slip against Dempo SC (5 wins out of 6).

In addition to the Bengaluru duo, two Goan teams, Dempo SC and Sporting Goa, are still very much in the promotion race. Their consistent performances have kept them within striking distance of the top spot. Meanwhile, Sudeva Delhi FC, relegated from the previous I-League campaign, is determined to make a comeback and secure their place in the top tier once again.

As the season draws to a close, the race for the golden boot intensifies. Sachit Singh of MH Oranje FC, Alister Anthony of Sporting Goa, and Sahil Harijan of United SC currently lead the charts with six goals each. They are closely followed by Thomyo Shirmay and Arif Shaikh of SC Bengaluru, with five and four goals respectively, contributing significantly to their teams’ campaigns.

The competition is fierce, and every goal counts as teams battle it out for promotion and glory in the final stages of I-League 2.

Relegation Battle:

Kenkre FC, MH Oranje FC, and United SC find themselves embroiled in a tense relegation battle as the I-League 2 season approaches its climax.

MH Oranje FC currently languishes at the bottom of the table, with only four matches remaining to alter their fate. The team’s dismal away record, failing to secure even a single point in five away games, places immense importance on their upcoming home fixtures. With matches against Bengaluru United and Sporting Goa on home turf, MH Oranje FC will be banking on their home advantage to secure crucial points. Additionally, their away clash against United SC at the Kalyani Stadium looms as a pivotal fixture in their relegation battle. With six win less matches behind them, MH Oranje FC must rally to salvage their debut season in the National League.

Just above MH Oranje FC sits United SC, a Kolkata-based club that previously graced the I-League 2 stage. However, this season has been fraught with instability, with victories only on two occasions. With upcoming fixtures against Goan powerhouses Dempo SC and Sporting Goa, as well as clashes against Bengaluru United and a decisive encounter with MH Oranje FC, United SC faces an uphill battle to avoid the drop.

Kenkre FC, relegated from the previous I-League season, finds themselves in familiar territory as they struggle to maintain their position in the league. Currently occupying the sixth spot with nine points, Kenkre FC has managed just one win in their last five fixtures. Their remaining four matches, against MH Oranje FC, Dempo SC, Sudeva Delhi, and SC Bengaluru, will be pivotal in their quest to stave off relegation for the second consecutive season.

Key Matches Ahead

Every fixture on the horizon carries immense significance, as outcomes have the power to shape the league standings dramatically. Key matches to watch out for include those featuring teams embroiled in the relegation battle, such as MH Oranje FC, United SC, and Kenkre FC. These matches hold the potential to determine the fate of the clubs involved, making the remaining fixtures pivotal for all teams vying for promotion or fighting relegation.

As the final stages of I-League 2 draw near, the competition intensifies, with teams jostling for promotion and battling to avoid relegation. With SC Bengaluru leading the charge and Bengaluru United hot on their heels, the title race promises thrills and excitement till the last whistle. The relegation battle adds another layer of drama, with MH Oranje FC, United SC, and Kenkre FC fighting for survival.
