Mumbai Super League: Mumbai City FC U19 lift title, India on Track FC confirm promotion

A hard fought 0-0 result meant Islanders colts lifting the Mumbai Super League title while India on track FC had to content with runner-up position, both gaining promotion to Mumbai Premier League in the process.
In the heart of Mumbai’s football fervor, amidst the cheers and chants echoing through the Neville D’souza Ground, an eagerly awaited spectacle commenced. It was the title decider match of the MFA’s Super League, where two formidable forces clashed in a battle for supremacy: India On Track (IOT) and Mumbai City FC (U19).
From the first whistle, the air crackled with anticipation as both teams surged forward, each determined to etch their name on the title at the end of the day. In an early mishap, Mumbai City FC’s keeper, Shaurya, showcased his composure by swiftly recovering from a misplaced pass and thwarting a potential scoring opportunity for IOT with a decisive clearance.
As the game progressed, the intensity soared with exhilarating attempts from both sides. India on track went close when a cross from the right flank was headed wide of the target. At the other end, Omkar’s precision shot tested IOT’s goalkeeper, Anish Chetty, who demonstrated his agility with a save. Both sides battled hard but neither could breach the defence.
The second half saw a shift in momentum as Mumbai City FC seized control, dictating the tempo with their possession-based play. Mumbai’s midfield maestros kept the pressure on IOT’s defense, creating scoring chances. Despite IOT’s defense, Mumbai stayed in control. Steiner D’souza’s towering-presence threatened to break the deadlock with a powerful header, but Anish Chetty’s heroics kept IOT’s dreams alive.
However, fate dealt a cruel blow to IOT as Rohan Dsouza’s reckless challenge resulted in his dismissal, reducing his team to ten men. When the ensuing free kick was awarded on the left side of the post, Mumbai City FC seized the opportunity to test the IOT defense once again. However, Anish Chetty rose to the occasion, making a spectacular save as he leaped high to deny the well-struck shot.

Despite being a player short, IOT still pursued a breakthrough, launching attacks on Mumbai City FC’s defense every once in a while. However, Mumbai’s stout defensive line, thwarted every attempt with ease.
In the dying moments of the match, Mumbai City FC nearly capitalized on a defensive lapse, but IOT’s goalkeeper redeemed himself with a crucial save, ensuring the score remained level. Despite being a player short, India On Track (IOT) held firm, denying Mumbai City FC any chance to score.
After a hard-fought 0-0 draw, Mumbai City FC (U19) emerged as the unbeaten champions, solidifying their supremacy, at the top of the table, while IOT’s valiant effort earned them the respect of fans and foes alike.
As the season came to an end, Mumbai City FC celebrated their well-deserved victory, while India On Track may have missed out on the title but will look at the big positives of gaining 4th promotion in 4 years along with their impressive unbeaten streak spanning multiple seasons.
