Mumbai Super League: Soccer Saga hold SG5 to 1-1 draw

MFA Super League Soccer Saga

A late goal from Fahad Sayed rescued a point for Soccer Saga as they finished their campaign with 21 points, moving up to 4th place in Group A of Mumbai Super League

In a riveting football encounter between Soccer Saga FC and SG 5 , the first half witnessed a series of near misses and opportunities for both teams.

Soccer saga’s first chance came early on the half when Chris Godve  delivered a precise pass to Allwyn D’Souza inside the box, but the latter failed to collect the ball properly, missing a golden opportunity. SG 5 responded with an attempt as Jersey no 10 passed to 16, who, unfortunately, sent the ball off target. A free-kick awarded to Soccer Saga saw their keeper successfully collecting the shot, maintaining a solid defense.

As the first half concluded, Soccer Saga faced a heart-breaking moment when a perfectly executed hit found the back of the net, only for the joy to be short-lived as the offside whistle rang. The score remained deadlocked at 0-0.

The second half kicked off with SG5 taking the lead as their Jersey no 16 received a pass from no. 10, outmaneuvered Soccer saga’s defense, and slotted the ball into the right corner, putting SG5 ahead 1-0. Undeterred, Soccer Saga pressed forward, with Mohd Jasim Shah almost breaking through, only to be denied by the vigilant opposing keeper.

A pivotal moment came when Soccer Saga was awarded a penalty. Chaitanya Naik stepped up, but the opportunity to equalize slipped away as the shot went wide. Soccer Saga persisted, and their efforts almost paid off when Vipul Lad skilfully beat the offside trap, advancing toward goal. However, the SG5 keeper intervened, blocking Vipul’s progress in a one-on-one confrontation.

In a dramatic turn of events late in the game, Soccer Saga managed to level the score at 1-1 as players Vipul Lad and Fahad Sayed combined efforts inside the box. Vipul’s well-placed cross was met by a precise header from Fahad Sayed, finding the corner of the net.

With the momentum on their side, Soccer Saga pressed for a winner, with Fahad Sayed delivering a cross to Vipul Lad, whose header jsut sailed over the post.

The match concluded with a 1-1 draw, as Soccer saga gained a point and moved up in the league table to finish the season in 4th place in Group A of Mumbai Super League.
