by Chandler D'silva December 8, 2025

FC Goa have made history, becoming three-time AIFF Super Cup champions after defeating East Bengal 2–0 in a confident and controlled performance at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda. With this victory, the Gaurs successfully defended their title and strengthened their reputation as one of India’s most consistent and competitive football clubs.

From the first whistle, FC Goa looked sharp, organised and hungry. The opening goal arrived in the 19th minute, when Boris Singh reacted quickly to a rebound inside the box and calmly placed the ball into the net. The early breakthrough settled Goa and allowed them to dictate the game with quicker passing and confident possession.

East Bengal pushed for a way back but struggled to find space against Goa’s disciplined defensive structure. Goalkeeper Arshdeep Singh and the backline stayed alert, cutting out crosses, blocking shots and limiting clear chances.

Goa doubled their advantage in the 74th minute, sealing the final. Substitute Muhammed Nemil, known for his creativity, made an immediate impact by setting up Carl Mchugh, who finished with a composed strike to make it 2–0. From that moment, the momentum firmly shifted in Goa’s favour.

In midfield, Borja Herrera, playing in his third straight Super Cup final, once again controlled the tempo, showing why he remains a key part of the team’s success. Goa’s experience, patience and tactical maturity stood out throughout the match.

For FC Goa, this title marks a major milestone — three Super Cup victories, including back-to-back championships, something no other Indian club has achieved. It also reflects the club’s strong development system, depth in squad quality and ability to perform under pressure.

East Bengal fought till the end but were unable to break through. They finish as runners-up after an impressive campaign, showing good promise heading into future competitions.

As fireworks lit up Fatorda, FC Goa lifted the trophy once again, celebrating a historic triumph with their fans. The journey continues, but for now, the Gaurs stand proudly at the top, champions of India for the third time.
