MFA Elite Division: Mumbai Knights rout Rudra FC, Oranje FC and Silver Innings secure vital victories

Mumbai Knights rout Rudra FC by a huge margin, The Oranje FC ride on injury time winner while Silver Innings edge Mumbai Strikers

The MFA Elite Division League saw some exciting games lately as the teams continue to battle it out to earn a better position in the league table. In recent fixtures, The Oranje FC faced PIFA Sports FC, while Silver Innings and Mumbai Knights took on Mumbai Strikers and Rudra FC respectively.

On Tuesday, February 28, The Oranje FC defeated PIFA Sports FC 2-1 in match number 110 of the MFA Elite Division League. The match stayed on level terms until the 78th minute when Muhammed Asad scored to give Oranje FC the lead. However, their advantage didn’t last long as PIFA equalized just three minutes later, through Austin D’souza. But, substitute Kiran Gaddam netted the winner for Oranje in the 87th minute, which gave his side all three points from the game.

In the second fixture on Tuesday, Silver Innings edged past Mumbai Strikers SC in a closely contested game. Sylvester D’mello put Silver Innings ahead as early as the 9th minute of the game. Mumbai Strikers equalized in the 25th minute, through Rishab Vishwakarma. However, Khushal Makwana scored for Silver Innings in the 59th minute to get his side’s lead back, and eventually the all-important three points from the match.

In the 3rd game on Tuesday, Mumbai Knights thrashed Rudra FC for a whopping 6-0 scoreline in match number 112 of the MFA Elite Division League. Brilliant brace’s from Sumesh Nair and Egan Fernandes and goals from skipper Asharafali Makandar and Rohith KS completed all six goals of the Knights. With the win, Mumbai Knights has moved to sixth position on the league table with 26 points from 14 games, while Rudra FC are positioned 14th in the table with 7 points from 14 games.
