Kharghar Premier League: A word from the Founders

The Kharghar Premier League (KPL) has grown into more than just a football competition. It has become a community that brings together working professionals, parents, former players and football lovers from across Mumbai, giving them an opportunity to return to the pitch, compete, stay fit and, most importantly, enjoy the game they have always loved.

For Prashant Dumbre, Owner of Kharghar United, KPL has created an important space for those who often find themselves putting football aside because of professional and family commitments.

“For working professionals and parents over 30, KPL is truly a game-changer. Balancing a career and family often means putting your own passions on hold. KPL brings the joy of football back into our lives—giving Mumbaikars a dedicated space to stay fit, de-stress, and showcase their talent on the pitch.”

For Nitin Tiwari, Owner of Mavericks Knights, the league also captures the lighter side of returning to football after 30, with plenty of banter away from the pitch.

“Half-time talk in the KPL isn’t about tactics—it’s five guys discussing uric acid levels, mutual funds, and whether the turf floodlights are bad for our BP.”

That camaraderie is also what makes KPL special for Kunal Chakraborty, Captain of Falcons FC Kharghar, who sees the league as being about much more than results.

“For me, KPL is much more than just a football league. It’s about the people, passion, competition and the memories we create together. Every season brings something new, and that’s what makes KPL special for everyone.”

For Rahul Raina, Founder of Kharghar Premier League, the idea behind KPL was always rooted in giving players another opportunity to experience the game in a competitive and professional environment.

“More than just a league, KPL is a football community which was created to give players a second chance to step back onto the pitch, experience a professional environment, and keep the pure, childhood joy of football alive. Having friends and family supporting us from the stands makes this league extra special.”

Raina also believes the growing pool of talent from across Mumbai can take KPL to another level.

“With so much talent pouring in from all over Mumbai, this is quickly going to become one of the most exciting and talked-about leagues in town!”

For Ratish Nair, Owner of Alpha Wolves United FC, the league’s growth is being driven by a strong sense of community, competition and brotherhood.

“KPL is no longer just a football league; it is becoming a community built on passion, competition and brotherhood. Season 4 brings together experience, talent and a hunger to compete. Our vision is clear: to build KPL into a professionally run, highly competitive platform where players over 30 can continue to challenge themselves and play the game they love.”

He added:

“Every player is part of this journey. Together, we will raise the standard, grow the league and make KPL something we can all be proud of.”

For DJ Paddy Mumbai, Owner of Atlético de Kharghar FC, KPL ultimately represents the shared love of the game and the relationships built through it.

“KPL….our league. KPL is a celebration and the love we share for football. It’s about the moments we create together, the battles on the pitch, the celebrations after every goal, and the memories after the final whistle.”

He summed up what the league means to its players:

“After 30 years of age, KPL brings us together with some new good friends. This is KPL.”

As Season 4 continues to bring players together, the message from the founders, owners and players remains clear: KPL is about football, but it is also about friendship, fitness, competition, community and keeping the love for the beautiful game alive.

And perhaps that is what makes the Kharghar Premier League truly special — the final whistle may end a match, but the friendships, memories and passion created through KPL continue long after it.
