Dominant S.S. Jolly Boys ease past Chemburites

S.S. Jolly Boys dished out a dominant display as they comfortably disposed off Chemburites 3-0 in the 2nd Division of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) at St. Xavier’s Ground in Parel on Thursday, 3rd September 2015.

S.S. Jolly Boys came into the game after narrowly beating Utkarsh Mandal in their previous encounter and looked like continuing the run right from the outset.

Jolly Boys had much more purpose about their play as compared to the Chemburites and eventually started to give them plenty of problems midway through the first half.

As the pressure mounted on the Chembur outfit, they were forced more and more into their own half. In the 24th minute, Jolly Boys eventually got the breakthrough when Rishna Shetty scored to give Jolly Boys the lead.

Jolly Boys got themselves in a commanding position as Lawrence Dias made it 2-0 from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time and deal a huge blow to the Chemburites psychologically. There was drama before Jolly Boys were able to double the lead as Lawrence Dias’ penalty was asked to be re-taken by referee Cajetan Dias.

But Lawrence Dias had no issues in dispatching a spot kick for the second time and send Jolly Boys with a healthy 2-0 lead into the interval.

The second half was a similar story as the first where the Jolly Boys continued to dominate proceedings, but let several chances pass away. Chemburites were giving the Jolly Boys attackers too much of space in and around their box as the Jolly Boys were able to carve them open time and time again.

It was only for the Chemburites goalkeeper Kunal Kamath that Jolly Boys didn’t put the game to bed completely early in the first half.

But mid-way through the second half, Jolly Boys got their third goal as James D’Souza capped of a nicely worked move which left him with a simple tap in. The third goal summed up the Chemburites as they showed little signs of a recovery before falling to a defeat.
