Desperados edge past Magic Bus in 1st Division opener
Desperados sneaked past Magic Bus 1-0 in the opening game of this season’s Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) 1st Division held at the St. Xavier’s Ground in Parel on Wednesday, 2nd September 2015.
The game took a while to get going as both teams were trying to find their feet early on. As the half progressed, both teams had chances to open the scoring but lack of match sharpness resulted in both teams going into the break deadlocked at 0-0.
Second half too failed to produce any kind of fireworks at the start as neither team possessed the spark to open the opposition defense. The game suddenly came to the boild past the 50 minute mark and got a bit feisty and Magic Bus’ Gaurav Shinde received a yellow card for unsporting behaviour in the 55th minute.
But Desperados managed to make the all-important breakthrough two minutes later when Dipen Bari scored to put Desperados in the ascendancy.
The goal made it very difficult for Magic Bus to net an equalizing goal as Desperados defended with an added vigour. Despite some late pressure from Magic Bus, Desperados held on to kick off their season with a victory.
