Robert Carlos could be Delhi Dynamos’ ‘marque’ manager

The Indian Super League has seen many greats of yesterday hit the Indian shores in the inaugural edition of the ISL. With Delhi Dynamos arguably getting the pick of the top players in Alessandro Del Piero last term, they could be set to add to build on their reputation this season as well as few reports link them with a move to get Brazilian Legend Roberto Carlos as their manager for the second season.
Touted as the ‘marque’ manager in a report by India Today, Roberto Carlos could set the ISL on fire even without taking to the field. A sensation during his playing days, Roberto Carlos is still considered one of the best left backs to have played the game.
So to have the Brazilian in the hot seat would be a huge boost for the Dynamos who narrowly missed out on the play-off spots last season.
Roberto was part of the Galacticos with the likes of Zinedin Zidane, David Beckham and Lewis Ronaldo, won four La Liga titles and three Champions League titles for Los Blancos.
Also a World Cup winner with Brazil, Roberto Carlos will bring huge experience to the table as the Delhi outfit look to make it past the league stage this season.
Roberto Carlos was the interim manager at Russian club Anzhi Makhachkla before two managerial stints in Turkey with Silvasspor and Akhila Belediyespor.
Roberto Carlos who would replace Dutchman Harm van Veldhoven in the Dynamos hotseat, would be the second Brazilian to manage in the ISL after FC Goa’s Zico.
Despite there being no words from the Dynamos camp on this issue, appointing someone like Roberto Carlos could be vital for Delhi, a city which isn’t known for its football over the years.
The ISL and Delhi would also serve as a perfect opportunity for Roberto Carlos as he looks to build his career in management.
