FC Goa Fan Voice – Redeem Tlang redeemed himself as a fine replacement

Gaur Fans laud Goa breaking the Bengaluru jinx, Redeem Tlang’s promising performance and share their views on play-off chances.

A 2-1 win over Bengaluru FC has setup a exciting finish for the gaurs as they are now just one step away from the play-off door. The result also ended Goa’s winless streak against the Southern eagles.

The FC Goa fans were all delighted with the team’s performance. Samuel Fernandes from FC Goa Fan Club said, “It was a big relief when we won the match and Bengaluru was a hard nut to crack and we cannot forget the last minute goal in the second half of the extra time in that 2018-19 final that broke our hearts. We are glad to be back to our winning ways.”

Echoing a similar sentiment, James M Mendonca from Duler Mapusa adds, “Bangalore being our nemesis that 2-1 win was some performance. And it came at the right time. It was such a delight.” “BFC have always been a tough competition throughout the years. Winning against them is not just a great victory but gives us another advantage when it comes to securing a good position in the league table”

Aditya Madkaikar, a member of FC Goa Fan Club from Kundaim, said “The win against BFC has finally broken the myth that FC Goa cannot beat BFC. Past so many years we have been trying but have always failed but this year our coach and our fabulous team has finally beaten Bengaluru. It was cracking game.”

Coach Juan Fernando has been praised by a fan for his tactical plan, “It felt really good, finally the BFC deadlock is broken, with Coach Juan, it’s always a good tactical plan. Previously, it was only attack and that is much predictable to any opposite team. But with Juan’s tactics it is mostly surprise elements like who is going to replace whom and who is going to score, that whole planning went well and we got the positive results.” said Saiel Naik, a follower of East Lower Army.

One of the Gaur’s most influential player Ortiz missed the game and, in his replacement, Redeem Tlang got to play. One of the most promising players for NorthEast United last season, Redeem had an underwhelming start to his FC Goa campaign when he was sent off on his maiden appearance. Since then, the midfielder played 8 games but only as a substitute appearance until the game against Bengaluru FC. Ortiz’s absence offered Redeem a place in the starting lineup and he repaid his gaffer faith in him with a goal early in the 1st half.

Commenting on Redeem, Dattaraj Mashelkar, College Ambassador of Agnel Institute of Technology and Design said, “We all know how well Redeem gave his performance last season for Northeast United FC. With his goal in the game against BFC, he has shown that he can be a useful player when the team needs him.”

Presently, FC Goa are one step away from the playoffs, both Hyderabad FC and NorthEast United FC have a good chance to step in the playoffs. The fans are all excited and enthusiastic to see their team clinch the ISL title this year.

Gautam Sajilal, of St Xavier’s College from Margao believes the club should take the final league game as a virtual quarter-final, “I think the match between Goa and Hyderabad is going to be an amazing game as it could be a virtual quarter final for us , whoever wins will qualify to the playoffs. I believe Goa qualifies and finally clinch the ISL title.”

“Speaking about the playoffs we knew that there are three teams that have the possibility of making it but with two spots remaining I am confident that we FC Goa are going to qualify for the playoffs. Hyderabad FC and NorthEast United FC are both great teams and waiting for the last game of the season against Hyderabad FC, who are also fighting for the place in the top 4 we know we have a great squad depth and we can make it to the top 4”, concluded Keegan Fernandes FC Goa Fan Club Member.
