Fan Voice – Gaur fans laud the team, term them “Dominant”

FC Goa revived winning ways after a convincing 3-1 victory against Odisha FC. Goals from Alberto Noguera (18′), Jorge Ortiz (26′) and Ivan Gonzalez (30′) kept Goa’s playoff aspirations alive. A win after six consecutive draws put FC Goa to the fourth spot with 27 points.
Before FC Goa make their historic debut in the AFC Champions League, they play their final two matches against Bengaluru and Hyderabad in the Indian Super League.
We spoke to FC Goa fans to gather their thoughts on the match, team’s progress and the prospects of making a mark at AFC Champions League:
Kartik Gobre, a student and an ardent FC Goa fan believes that the team has been very dominant. “A very good and a dominant performance. Needed the 3 points and everyone delivered when wanted. It was an all-round performance from the team when we needed a win.”
Kartik emphasized the dearth in defence and spoke about the necessity to improve before the team commence their Champions League journey. “Defense is the only major weakness from start. Rotating the defence has given more headache to the team. Injuries of key defenders have deferred Juan’s plan. Speaking of AFC Champions League, it’s a must to have a robust backline.”
Saiel Naik, a member of the East Lower Army finds the victory amusing. “The win felt wonderful, a win after a long wait, but still not a comfortable one. We got the goals but now goal difference is making a big noise” says Naik.
Speaking about Dheeraj, Naik feels that the youngster seems to be under pressure. “Sometimes Dheeraj looks pressurized, his height is worrisome during stretches.”
“Team is good, keeping good possession, and dominant. Overall the team is structured and we are hoping for some magic at AFC Champions League” quotes Saiel.
On the other hand, Nishad Hegde Desai, an East Lower Army member claims the team to be underprepared for AFC Champions League debut. “With just over a month to go, the team doesn’t look ready for AFC Champions League”
“However, it’s fine because it’s our first year with a new team. There’s only one way from here and that is improving ourselves. These bunch of individuals have the grit, the spirit and the passion to improve. In Juan We Believe.” concluded Nishad.
FC Goa is slated to face Bengaluru FC on 21st of February at the Fatorda Stadium.
