Mumbai City FC are positive on their win streak against Bengaluru FC

Mumbai City FC host Bengaluru FC for the second time this season as the club looks to keep second match win streak going on against their opponent.

The Clubs last time faced each other in a 3-1 win for Mumbai City FC earlier this season in January. The Islanders have kept their place as the table toppers this season. The club is right now sitting in a tied position on the points table with ATK Mohun Bagan. In their last game against FC Goa the islanders took one point as the game ended in a 3-3 draw.

However, Mumbai had a lead over ATK Mohun Bagan with 6 points few weeks ago. The team had 25 points in the first 10 games.in the last 16 games the club collected 34 points. To be the table topper the islanders have to be in a must win situation.

“We are in the best position in the league. We have good players and the team spirit is positive. I am proud of my boys and they have a good attitude towards the game.” Said Head Coach Sergio Lobera in concern with the upcoming fixture against Bengaluru FC.

Currently, Hugo Boumous has been served with a Show Cause Notice by the AIFF for his unsavoury behavior towards the match officials in the game against FC Goa on Monday 8th February. Hugo received his 4th Yellow card of the season and was shown a direct Red-Card for using offensive and abusive language towards the match official. Due to which he will serve a two-match suspension.

To this the gaffer replied “It is important to work as a team, there should be no excuses due to the absence of one player. We have to focus on the team not on individuality, we have other good players.”

The islanders have previously played three games without Hugo.

However, Mumbai City FC Head Coach knows that their Monday’s opponents are not to be taken lightly as they have their new coach appointed.

At present, Bengaluru FC is on the 7th position with 19 points from 17 matches played. The club has also announced their new Head Coach Marco Pezzaiuoli on a three-year contract. He will lead the club to the AFC Cup Preliminary stage two game.

Bengaluru will miss out Juanan and Rahul Bheke as they are ruled out due to injuries. As well as Pratik Chaudhari will be out due to four yellow cards.

In the past Mumbai City FC has clashed against Bengaluru FC seven times out of which Mumbai has won four times. Bengaluru has won twice and one match which resulted in a draw.

The key player to watch for in tomorrow’s fixture for the Islanders and the Blues are:

Adam le Fondre vs Sunil Chhetri

Ahmed Johouh vs Cleiton Silva

Mourtada Fall vs Harmanjot Khabra

Amrinder Singh vs Gurpreet Singh
