Ajinkya Umasare brace propels Boxer FA to lift MDFA 2nd division title

The 2019-2020 MDFA 2nd Division title clash saw Boxer FA ride on Anjikya Umasare brace to outclass Mumbai Marines 4-2 to lift the cup.
David D’souza and Sayyed Mahbeeb chipped in with one goal each on either side of half as Boxer FA came from a goal down to defeat Mumbai Marines 4-2 in the final.
Played out at Neville D’souza Ground, the game began with Mumbai Marines taking the lead in the 6th minute when Jason Fernande’s shot found the back of the net. Rocked by the early goal, Boxer FA responded with flurry of attack before finally managing to find equalizer in the 25th minute when David Dsouza snuck past the defence to score. The game was evenly poised at halftime as both teams were locked 1-1 before going into the break.
Second half began with Boxer FA coming out aggressively in attack. They were soon rewarded with twin goals after in form striker Ajinkya Umasare, who struck a brace in the semi-final, once again turned out to be a star striking two goals within three minutes to send Boxer FA 3-1 up.
With time running out, Mumbai Marines upped the ante and soon managed to pull one back courtesy of Sharyash More strike. However, any hopes of late comeback was quickly squashed aside as Sayyed Mahbeed sealed the game in the very next minute, with the fourth goal of his side. Finding himself in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper, Sayyed with cool and calm finish guided Boxer FA to a 4-2 victory.
Earlier in the day, two goals on either side of the break gave Om Saidham Seva Mandal a 2-0 victory over Lemon Break in the 3rd place play-off.
OSSM Star Striker Shoaib Baig broke the deadlock in the 17th minute to put his team in lead before Navin Negi doubled the lead midway through the 2nd half to seal the game in favour of the Om Saidham Seva Mandal and secure the 3rd place.
