MDFA Elite Division: Bank of Baroda score late to earn 3 points against Income Tax

A second-half goal by Bank of Baroda helped them secure all three points in their game against a strong Income Tax side. Lack of finishing in the final third combined with a brilliant display of goalkeeping by Rohit Patil resulted in an action-packed first half that remained goalless.

In the first half, at the end of a well-constructed move, Henderson Dias’s cross led to a goal scored by forward Sandesh Marpots. However, the goal was disallowed as the later was deemed offside. Deep into the half, a venomous strike by Henderson was yet again saved by the Bank of Baroda goalkeeper Rohit.

The second half followed a similar pattern as the first with Bryce Miranda’s technical prowess and ability off the ball causing problems to the Bank of Baroda side. In the dying minutes of the game Bank of Baroda managed to get a goal via Denzil Mascarenhas after the ball fell kindly at the feet of the player inside the penalty box.

Thus, a compact backline with a good goalkeeper at the back managed to successfully nullify sustained pressure by the Income Tax attack. The team in oranje secured all three points by scoring in the 84th minute of the game.

Result- Elite Div: Bank of Baroda 1 (Denzil Mascarenhas 84′) beat Income Tax 0
