U Mumba and PIFA register identical wins

25th March 2019, Mumbai: On Monday, PIFA encountered Mumbai Strikers, whereas, U Mumba played Companeroes in the MDFA Elite Division (Private Group) at the Neville D’Souza Turf in Bandra. Both PIFA and U Mumba registered an identical 3-1 win to snatch all three points in an eventful day.

PIFA (Kaiwalya Tare 54′, 57′, & 61′) 3-1 Mumbai Strikers (Himesh Mistry 90+3′)

It was a great outing for PIFA as they picked up maximum points to register their third win of the season. It was a moment of brilliance shown by PIFA’s attacker Kaiwalya which stole the show. After a decent showing in the first-half, PIFA stepped up right after the break and that’s where they broke Mumbai Strikers’ rhythm completely.

In space of just seven minutes, Kaiwalya took the game beyond Strikers’ reach after netting thrice and bagging the match-ball with a splendid hat-trick. The Strikers’ backline couldn’t manage to keep Tare at bay as his positioning and awareness around and inside the box was perfect. Mumbai Strikers’ did score through Himesh but it was too late as the damage was already done.

U Mumba (Pankaj Mishra 9′, Henderson Dias 25′, & Sagar Khanvilkar 40′) 3-1 Companeroes (Wayne Tridade 45+1′)

In the other game, U Mumba recorded a convincing 3-1 win against Companeroes to grab their seventh win of the season as they keep the pressure on GMSC and Kenkre FC. Surprisingly, all four goals were scored in the first-half itself. Pankaj Mishra’s glancing header opened the scoring in the 9th minute for U Mumba before Henderson Dias doubled the lead with an identical header in the 25th minute.

As the game progressed, U Mumba kept growing and gained momentum. With the half-time break nearby, U Mumba was awarded a penalty. Former Air India’s player Sagar Khanvilkar stepped up and increased the lead by three goals.

Wayne Tridade cut short the deficit for Companeroes in the injury time of first-half but U Mumba’s job was done and dusted. In the second-half, they controlled the proceeding and didn’t allow their counterparts to initiate an attack.

A great day for both PIFA and U Mumba who picked up all three points in a similar fashion.
