Mumbai Strikers, Millat FC, and CFCI registers crucial win

Mumbai Strikers CFCI Millat FC

18th February 2019, Mumbai: On Monday, a combined of three MDFA Elite Division (Private Group) games were held. In an early kick-off, CFCI faced Companeros at the Cooperage Stadium, Millat FC played Bombay Muslims at the same venue later while Mumbai Strikers encountered GMSC at Western Railway Ground (Mahalaxmi).

Mumbai Strikers, Millat FC, and CFCI had a terrific outing as all the three sides registered a crucial win to get going in the Elite Division. Here is the round-up of the same:

Mumbai Strikers (Rakesh Patne 70′) 1-0 GMSC

After salvaging a draw against Karnataka Sports Association (KSA) last Wednesday, Mumbai Strikers took on GMSC on Monday afternoon at the Western Railway Ground (Mahalaxmi). Both the outfits played brilliantly throughout the game in what was end-to-end encounter.

As the game looked like heading towards a cagey draw, Akshay Devadiga was fouled inside the box and Mumbai Strikers were awarded a penalty in the 70th minute. In the previous game, Mumbai Strikers missed two penalties in which the latter penalty was converted only through a rebound effort from Ravish D’Souza.

This time, Captain Rakesh Patne stepped up to take responsibility. Rakesh held his nerves and comfortably placed his penalty into the back of the net to give Strikers a solitary 1-0 lead. Being the dominant side, GMSC pushed forward in the search for an equalizer but couldn’t manage to break the resilience backline of Mumbai Strikers.

Millat FC (Bhushan Saindane 8′, Adnan Ishke 28′, Dylan Monterio 35′, Kalpesh Rane 36′ & 55′, and Aniket Shipe 88′) 6-1 Bombay Muslims (Projot Saini 10′)

At the Cooperage Stadium, Millat FC locked horns against the struggling Bombay Muslims side who had been recently suffered a couple of big losses. Millat FC had a point to prove after some poor display this season and they did prove their point after a big 6-1 win over their counterparts.

Bhushan opened Millat’s account in the 8th minute before Projot Saini leveled the score for Bombay Muslims. But that would turn out to be the only Bombay Muslims goal.

CFCI (Ishant Rana 5′ and Mohammad Ishaq 65′) 2-1 Companeros (Wayne Trinidade 14′)

In the early kick-off, CFCI and Companeros played out an entertaining game at the Cooperage Stadium. CFCI’s Ishant Rana had broken the deadlock in the 5ht minute before Wayne Trinidade leveled the score with a wonderful finish.

The turning point of the game occurred in the second half when Mohammad Ishaq’s delicate finish found the back of the net which ultimately proved to be the winning goal.
