Kiran Pandhare strikes late winner as Air India move to 3rd spot in MDFA Elite division table

Kiran Pandhare’s injury time goal ensures Air India all three points against Union Bank of India extending the former’s unbeaten streak to 5 games this season.

In a highly physical and competitive encounter which saw both sides reduced to ten men at the end of the game, Air India came out triumphs with all three points, courtesy of a late winner from Kiran Pandhare.

Both sides came in to the game with different set of result while Air India had an unbeaten streak of 4 games garnering six points UBI was uneven start having registered just 4 points in 4 matches. After a cagey start, Air India began to control the proceeding with experienced midfielder Vijith Shetty pulling the strings, meanwhile UBI held their defensive line well with left back Dion Menezes leading from the front.

The game looked headed into another draw for both sides however UBI defender Dion Menezes was given the marching order deep into the injury time after receiving the second yellow of the day. Meanwhile, Kiran struck the winning goal as Air India grabbed all three points condemning UBI to their 3rd loss of the season.

The referee had a field day with as many as 7 players going under the book including two red cards. Air India midfielder Vijith Shetty will be missing out the next game after being shown the red card for dissent.

The win takes Air India to third spot in the MDFA Elite Division table behind league leaders ONGC and second placed Western Railways. At the other end UBI remains rooted to eight spot in league table with just 4 points in 5 games.
