WCG Rink Football: Holy Cross score over St. James
Holy Cross ‘A’. Kurla prevailed over St. James, Virar in a first round Men’s match of the Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana organized 31st Inter-Parish 5-a-side Rink Football Tournament – 2018 for the Victor D’Mello Trophy and played under floodlights at the gymkhana’s tennis courts.
Leading Holy Cross win was striker Shailesh Jadhav who scored two goals, while Allwyn D’Souza and Lara Gonsalves chipped in with one each. For St. James the goals came through Juventus D’Mello, Krunal Shelar and Kaluram Thapa.
In another match, St. Vincent de Paul ‘A’, Khar got the better of Our Lady of Egypt ‘C’, Kalina by a close 3-2 margin. Malcolm Fernandes, Pratik Kadam and Melvin Barboza were on target with a goal each for the Khar side,while Rayyan Shiakh and Joshua Fernandes struck the goals for the Kalina outfit.
Results – 1st round: St. Vincent de Paul ‘A’, Khar 3 (Malcolm Fernandes, Pratik Kadam, Melvin Barboza) beat Our Lady of Egypt ‘C’, Kalina 2 (Rayyan Shiakh, Joshua Fernandes).
Holy Cross ‘A’, Kurla 4 (Shailesh Jadhav 2, Allwyn D’Souza, Lara Gonsalves) beat St. James, Virar 3 (Juventus D’Mello, Krunal Shelar, Kaluram Thapa).
Our Lady of Victories ‘A’, Mahim 9 (Dion Menezes 5, Johnson D’silva 2, Ronit Borkar, Brolin D’souza) Beat St.Stephen’s, Cumballa Hill 2 (Gordon Fernandes).
