Transfer Update: Anwar AlI, who scored the winner against Argentina U20, signs for Mumbai City FC

The young defender who scored the stunning Free Kick goal against Argentina U20 in the recently concluded COTIF Cup has been signed by Islanders on a 3 year deal.

The Minerva Academy graduate has been a promising talent and has represented India in the 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup. He went on to be a part of Indian Arrows project in 2017-18 I league playing in 15 games of that season.

In the recently held U20 COTIF tournament where India were pitted against Murica, Mauritiana, Venezuela and Argentina teams. his stunning goal from a free-kick  helped India in registering an historic 2-1 win over Argentina U20. After plying his trade in I League, the now India U20 defender has opted to make his move to the bigger leagues signing up for Indian Super League (ISL) side Mumbai City FC  on a 3 year deal.

Anwar Ali will now join his namesake, the experienced Anwar Ali, who also happens to be a central defender, in a fight for spot in Mumbai City FC defence line up, alongside captain Lucian Goian.
