BPFL: Maryland close down Fleetfooters in Group A while Milan Club tops Group B

The ongoing Borivali Premier Football League (BPFL) Season 3 commenced on last Saturday and Sunday at the St. Francis D’Assisi Football Ground in Borivali. A total of four matches were played over two days in what was an action-packed weekend. Maryland closed down Group A leaders and Defending Champions Fleetfooters while Milan Club recorded their third straight win to cement their place at the top of Group B.
Group B: Shelar FC (Prasad Sarang) 1-5 ND2 Soccer Starz (Dhuval Waghela x 3 and Pratik Shetty x 2)
On Saturday, in-form ND2 Soccer Starz encountered Shelar FC in what turned out to be a ruthless and one-sided affair. After registering a comprehensive win against Vibrants FC in their second group game, ND2 Soccer Starz left no stones unturned as they romped to a whopping 5-1 victory over Shelar FC. Dhuval Waghela bagged a spectacular hat-trick, whereas, Pratik Shetty notched up a fine brace for the winning side. For Shelar FC, Prasad Sarang scored a consolation goal right in the end. With two wins and a draw, ND2 Soccer Starz is just two points behind leaders Milan Club.
Group B: Milan Club (Ankit Dalvi 62′) 1-0 Challengers FC
A second-half goal by Ankit Dalvi ensured all three points for Milan Club who are sitting comfortably at the top of Group B after three games. Just like their name, Challengers FC did produce an impressive display but fell short in the second-half due to their poor finishing. Milan Club had to wait for an hour to break the deadlock and they did that in some style. Ankit Dalvi’s sublime finish was enough to seal a crucial win for Milan Club.
Group A: Maryland (Christopher Fernandes 15′ & 28′, Mohith Gatty 34′ & 50′ and Brabourne Rodrigues 48′) 5-0 Gorai FC
On Sunday, Maryland produced a scintillating display to close down Fleetfooters after a thumping 5-0 win over Gorai FC at the St. Francis D’Assisi Football Ground in Borivali. With this win, not only Maryland won their third consecutive game but also improved their goal-difference. They are tied with Fleetfooters who have a better goal-difference as of now. Christopher Fernandes and Mohith Gatty formed a lethal combination as the duo scored two goals each while Brabourne Rodrigues also got on the scoresheet. The game between Maryland and Fleetfooters will be nothing short of a thriller as both the sides will be aiming for the top spot in Group A.
Group A: Ruthless (Hekmat Singh 24′, Kevin Silva 30′ and Ramesh Singh 40′) 3-0 Friends FC
In the other Group A game, a goal each by experienced starlet Hekmat Singh, Kevin Silva and a prolific Ramesh Singh earned Ruthless FC a commendable 3-0 victory over Friends FC. This was Ruthless’ first win of the campaign which has surely boosted the team as the league heads towards a crucial phase. Meanwhile, Friends United FC is still winless after playing three games where they have scored only once.
